- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon minced shallots
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- ½ teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
- 1 pound frozen edamame
- 2 tablespoons Sambal Oelek, or your favorite chili paste
- First, gather your mise en place (mi ˑ zɑ̃ ˑ plas).
- Heat a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Once hot, pour ⅓ cup water into the pan. Add your garlic, ginger, shallots, sea salt and fresh cracked pepper to the pan. Sauté for 2 minutes, until fragrant.
- Add the frozen edamame and chili paste to the pan. Stir until the beans are coated evenly. Pour in another ⅓ cup water and place the lid on the pan. Let the edamame steam and heat through for 5 minutes. Once 5 minutes have passed, try one of the beans. If still a bit cold place the lid back on and let cook for a couple more minutes. 5 minutes usually does the trick for me.
- Once heated through, turn the burner off and add your garnish ingredients to the pan. Stir well.
- Place the edamame in a serving dish and enjoy!
