The White ~ Agonda, Goa

A Beautiful Stay at The White

The White in Agonda Beach was a real treasure.  After a 27-hour train ride from Delhi heading south, we landed at the Vasco de Gama train station.  Next was a 1.5-hour taxi ride to Agonda, and our beach resort, The White.  We booked this resort a couple months earlier because the pictures online were beautiful and they offered yoga classes each day.  How bad could a tropical stay at an all-white resort be?

The White lobby

*~ welcome vibes ~*

Upon arrival, the first thing I noticed was how inviting the lobby was, set in circular shape, without any walls.   There were floating dreamcatchers dancing in the breeze, and as I looked west, I could see through the entire resort to the beach.  Such reassuring sites after long travels.  The front desk staff was incredibly courteous and welcomed us with big smiles.  Every room on the property is a stand-alone bungalow, perfect for two people.  The rooms are contemporary, clean, simple and most importantly have air conditioning.  Each bungalow has a unique name and wind chime to help you find your way home.  There are lush vibrant gardens splattered between the white architecture.

The White pool

Pool or beach?

The White is complete with a full bar and restaurant which looks out to the Arabian Sea.  Enjoy a traditional Goan breakfast and freshly squeezed fruit juice each morning.  The bartenders make creative drinks, and the chefs, great food.  During our stay, the owners were bopping around the property, happy as could be making sure all the guests were enjoying themselves.

Agonda is a fantastic place to unwind and move at a slower pace, which can be hard to do in India.    Our mornings were spent going on beach runs and swims.  Midday we strolled the main street filled with vendors and shops.  We had massages.  We ate dosa, plenty of dosa, even dessert dosa!  We found a different happy hour every afternoon and caught the sunset each evening.  We enjoyed a beautiful beach horse ride.

If you are looking for island vibes, a laid-back environment and incredibly warm ocean water, I highly suggest a trip to Goa.  If you love feeling at home when you travel, and simple luxury, stay at The White.  While you’re there ask the bartender to make you a ginger martini.
